Hello members
I connected to the "free" 2talk some time ago. So far I haven't used it much at all. Now I am considering porting one of our numbers and get on the business plan.
Going through their forum, and also my experience has been that any help through email is very slow and needed improvement.
Has the service changed to the better lately?
Would be nice to hear any relevant comments to the service and the "product" itself.

I have been using their service for months now, both their paid and free personal plans.
I recently ported a TCL cable provided landline over to their free plan, so it costs me $7 per month. I followed the porting instructions on their site, and had very little problems.
Their emails were quickly responded to, and phone support was also very good.

And the phone lines are good? Are you reasonably close to an exchange?
So from your point of view "the way to go"?

I have found 2talk good. I ported my number to them and had no issues with email support and the product seems solid. The flexibility of I think if you are trying to do something "outside the square" you may not get a quick answer.

I imagine they come across a large number of different devices connected to their network when compared with VFX which is extremely strict on their end user devices. This may impact on speed of resolutions. If porting to them it may pay to stick with some reasonably mainstream equipment.

No I am not a reseller ;)
I have had no problems with the call quality ever. I have used in on two seperate ADSL connections, and a TCL cable connection. It has been perfect for both local/international calls made from NZ, aswell as using it from Europe to call NZ.
They have their occasional issues, but not a biggy unless you were needing to top up your account and could not log into the portal to do so.

I got throttled last month (the wife was not happy!) and so were on dial up speeds for a week and it worked ok over that also. We just had to make sure there was no web browsing going on at the time.


/edit - ISP throttled and throttled by the wife!

Another "OK" from a 2talk user (3 lines on a business plan). The phone service has been great, very reliable, call quality is better than my home vfx line.
The customer service can sometimes be a bit slow, but generally OK.
The forums have really dried up though, would be nice to see a few more posts from 2talk staff.

It does look to be solid and I will try to sort out our phone lines. We'll keep one landline and intend to do all out calls from the voip.
How are the 2000min lasting?

My wife and I have used 2talk for quite a while now especially for her to keep in touch with her parents via a local Hawkes Bay number - we have found their service EXCELLENT, the features available are awesome and for the price I have not seen any better alternative for our needs.

Use it from a Nokia N95, works well, had a couple of super-minor glitches but the features it offers are stunning, call recording, fax-email and similar stuff.

Call quality is also very good, better than my horrible weak home phone that's for sure.

So, that leaves me with very little left over to ask, till I have signed up and switching over.
The plan is now to keep one absolutely basic phone line, which I'm not to sure how cheap I can get with our big brother, and port over the other.

Why do you need to keep another landline? How often does your internet go down? And if it does, will it kill you to be unreachable or not able to make calls.

Most people have cellphones, so not having a landline is not a big issue in my mind.

That would certainly mean naked DSL, or am I wrong?
We are 4k's away from the exchange and there is no upgrade planned. So with snap we would pay for 20GB $ 100.- plus the 2talk sevice.

I havent had any 2talk probelms so cant comment however reliability wise our IAX2 trunk has been set and forget so far.
