Has anyone used 2talk as a main number and just use the call forwards to your cell?

Thinking about doing it so when I'm overseas people can still call me and I just change it to the prepay sim in whatever country I'm going to.

Just want to know if it is reliable at the end of the day, and people having to get use to a 028 xxxx xxxx 8 digit number instead of my 021 xxx xxx 6 digit number.

I'm sure people will complain if they are on VF and can't use their free minutes to call me.

Hmmm. I use 2talk as our main Pukekohe number. I have done it a bit differently as I have a Nokia E71 and whenever I am in wifi range it registers (I could also do it over 3g if required) and people can ring me. I have a mate in Europe doing the same thing with an E51 and a Mac and his Auckland number. He is loving it.

Could you do it that way?

I often divert my 2Talk number to my mobile when my office is unattended, it seems 100% reliable.

I have a 281-xxxx number on a business plan which gives me 2,000 minutes of worldwide calling to landlines and mobiles in China, Hong Kong & Singapore for $35.00 per month.

It depends what 028 number range you're talking about. 028 is not used just by 2talk.

You can send an SMS to a mobile that's using an 028 number (such as a CallPlus mobile). You can't send one to a 2talk 028 number as it's not a mobile phone service. A call forward from an 028 number to an 021 number is only a voice divert.
