In previous discussions I have been advised I should choose an SPA2102 over a PAP2t. I'm just wondering what are the advantages of the newer model (spa2102)?
How does the voice quality compare over the two models? is there any difference?

If all I'm wanting is a single VOIP number and to plug in my handset does ti matter which model? I understand with Xnet that you must use the spa2102.

I'm with Xnet and use a PAP2T with no problems.

The SPA2102 is a newer generation of hardware, handles Fax with T38 the PAP2 dosn't, also has some improvements in the whole sip stack which is not available in the PAP2T because of limitations of hardware,

The PAP2T is fine but if you had a choice I would recomend the 2102 everytime.

If you are going to get a PAP2 and use it on Xnet just be aware of the different versions/models and what is and isn't supported.

One of the biggest limitations is that it can only do a single G.729 call at once but if you're only using a single port this won't be an issue.

Yeah. If you just want to plug in a phone and make calls, don't care about faxing, and want to save a couple bucks then there's nothing wrong with the PAP2T. There isn't a difference in voice quality.

EDIT: Should have mentioned as you asked - the main differences from a users perspective are; the SPA2102 has two Ethernet ports allowing it to act as a router etc. and it supports T.38 faxing.
