i want to set up a dial plan so that when a user dials, for example, 6XXX - it performs a dial of the number 6495556XXX.  i believe that i need to do this in the extensions_custom.conf file, but i'm not sure of the syntax.  anyone able to help?

You could create a Misc Destination, and then a Misc Application for each?

The Misc Destination would be for the phone number that you're dialing, and then you have a Misc Application which would be the applicable "short-code".

One of the simplest way is to create an extension in FreePBX with the number you want to dial and then modify the SIP string from SIP/210 (ie for ext 210) to SIP/041234567.

There are other ways to do this including misc destinations but this is the easiest (but not the tidiest)
