I am new to the world of VoIP. I have 2Talk and will shortly be porting my old landline to this service (once naked DSL kicks in).

I have received my Linksys PAP2T today so have been setting it up but can't test just yet as I have no  RJ-11 to RJ-11 cables.

I have been following the 2Talk setup process and was little confused with the dial plan. The website states
"You can build your own NZ dial plan. Below is an example dial plan you can use:
([2-9]xxxxxx|0[34679][2-9]xxxxxx|0210xxxxxxx|021[12]xxxxxx|021[3-9]xxxxx|02[0279]xxxxxxx|0240xxxxxx|024[1-9]xxxxxxx|0282[4-5]xxxxxx|050xxxxxxx|070xxxxxxx|080xxxxxxx|00xxxxxxx.|01[08]|017xx|12[356]|[19]11|*55|023xxxxxxxx|01[1234569]x.|02[56]x.|028[013456789]x.|0282[0123467890]|0282[01236789]|05[1-9]x.|08[1-9]x.|0[34679][0-1]x.|1[03456789]x.|11[023456789]x.|12[0124789]x.|*[012346789]x.|*5[012346789]x.)

What does this mean? Is the dial plan above OK? Should I be making any changes and/or enhancements?

Thanks!

No reason to change the 2talk one unless you're wanting to do something it doesn't support.

Unless you know what you're doing don't fiddle with this or you won't be able to call anybody.

Thanks for that... was just kinda curious to know what it all meant.

Also, their comment about the dial plan being an "example" and not a recommended plan didn't build much confidence, wasn't sure if there should be more/less to it.

Cheers :)
