Hi, I've just got set-up for voip with the intention of getting rid of my land-line.
The PAP2T was set-up according to 2talk's instructions, but I have had to enable NAT to get incoming calls working every time (as suggested by 2talk support).
But the sound quality is nowhere near as good as the land-line.
I have searched this forum and made several changes that are recommended, but none improved the sound quality. I have tried an analogue phone as well as a DECT cordless phone.
The changes I have tried include
FXS port impedance
FXS input and output port gains
turning off echo cancelling/suppression
increasing the priority of router port used by the PEP2T.
I would describe the sound as crackly, but its not a crackle on top of the speech, its more like a radio when its just off the station.

Any suggestions of anything else I can try.

I setup 2talk voip lines at home and work with Linksys SPA3102's, I also found the call quality quite poor.
Spent hours trying various settings to improve it with no success.
Replaced the spa3102 at work with an asterisk box and pure ip phones, night and day difference in call quality.
Replaced the spa3102 at home with a Siemens A580IP cordless phone, night and day difference again.

The PAP2's are very old devices now that were replaced by the 2102's and 3102's a number of years ago. Voice quality isn't as good as the 2102/3102 or the newer SRP500 devices which are fantastic for ATA's.

It's virtually impossible to know what's wrong from that description, but it certainly isn't 2talk at fault, it will be an issue with your phone or configuration.

I've got a PAP2 on 2Talk at home using G711 codec and it sounds better than my Telecom landline..

What cadec are you using - 711a

What is your FXS port imp set to - 370+620||310
FXS input gain - 0
FXS Port output Gain  - 0
Port power level - 4
More echo sup - no
Sip port - 50600 (remember to set the proxy as well)
pref codec 711a

No idea what you're about about the nat, but I do have STUN set up if that's what you mean?

Been down this same road with chch tc hfc.  Mines working very well now with a dect panasonic cordless.

Still a few drop out issues, but I think it's because I don't have any qos on the link... working on that at present.

I've never come across a phone that needed gain levels higher than the default -3. You typically start getting echo on many cheap phones at -2 or -1, and in many cases need to change the setting down to somewhere in the -6 to -9 range to eliminate it.

I don't get echo, but those are the settings I'm running.

The person at the other end could be though as their voice loops from the speaker into the mic beacuse of the high gain settings.

ta. I'll keep that in mind. We use headsets with the phones, so I doubt that can happen.

But I can see it could happen with a normal phone or cordless without a headset.

I've tried changing the codec to both of the G711 options, and that makes no difference.
Is there a way you can send me your whole configuration? (I notice that there isn't an option to save the configuration to file).

I hope it isn't just the inherent quality of the adapter.

Thanks, I've just tried it with all those settings, but no difference.
2talk support told me to change the STUN settings at the same time as the NAT ones, so it could be that which cured the incoming calls problem, but I don't understand either.
