648796
- EFTPOS Dial Access Number

Phone lines seem to have gone off line in my area.

I'm trying to set up the Dairy with 2talk but I'm not sure is eftpos is just off line as well.

Can anyone confirm if it's up?

Also any tips on configuring a SPA2102 to work with eftpos would help.

EFTPOS numbers are 08796 and 08797. One for EFTPOS NZ, one for Paymark.

It looks like you are using the country code to dial in, when you don't need it...

Yip, I think there's an issue with the dial plan on the ATA that caused that, not sure.

It didn't work anyway. But in the mean time I've been able to find out that Telecom have working lines at the Doctor next door, so I've run 100m of cable over the roofs down to the dairy and hooked them in that way till we get the Telstra Clear telephone network back on line.

Made some very happy people in the community as people can now get cash, we can empty the dairy cash out (as they had a break in attempt last night - cameras going up next) and the wife could get loo paper!

Steve, should the older eftpos terminals work over voip or am I just kidding myself?

Eftpos works fine over VoIP networks we have a large number doing exactly that, it will depend on how your provider has this setup as well.

Thanks Maverick, I tried calling you last week and am obviously a bit busy now, but I'll get back to you on that stuff. I have a few ppl now who are going to be very interested in a different solution to the one they've using right now.

EFTPOS works fine over VFX and there isn't any configuration changes required for this. I certainly haven't heard of any issues with 2talk and EFTPOS in the past, but to be honest don't know anybody using it either.

The biggest problem is codecs, since it's a low speed data device you have to use alaw or ulaw as a codec. Use a compressed codec like G.729 and it won't work.

Thanks Steve, ya I had 711a set. I think the issue might be just the dial plan on the ATA was just causing it to be calling the wrong number? Not sure.

Having a good IP solution is the way I want to go, that's for sure. So far IP is the only thing round here that hasn't failed.

Bang on - G.711 even if it does chew bandwidth - because if it doesn't work it's just useless. Just like Fax... and don't get me started on T.38

And yes my comments are for TCL VOIP products.

antoniosk would be helpful to know why the TCL pstn has gone off line at Acheson Ave
Mairehau, Christchurch as I can't run the eftpos on the doc's line once they reopen.

I'm all ears on why stuff doesn't work, rant away. I have T.38 enabled on the ATA and G.711, and yes, I agree, who cares about bw, it's still truck loads cheaper than having 2 POTS services and so far with voice on HFC is more than ok given what you're paying.

I don't get what all the issue is. We've been doing fax for what... 25, 30 years? We've had digital phone lines for around the same time? I get that I'm ignorant on the subject, that's fine... but really... why is this stuff so hard? We've only moving the AtoD closer to the customer aren't we?

Be interested in whether you get EFTPOS running over 2talk. I ran the sky modem over VFX with no trouble at all but couldn't get any joy over 2talk.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Don - the emergency number for TCL customers is 0508 24 24 11. Team are massively stretched though and really limited in what they can do, so use with common sense and care - getting the health centre going would be up there.

The biggest issue all SP's have right now is infrastructure running on batteries, and inability to get in with diesel etc. Diesel generators are being connected to cabinets in areas where Downer can get to.

We can debate technology in later weeks once stuff settles down.

A, thanks for the number. The doc is closed for now. I talked to him this morning. Phone system off the wall, computers on the floor, I've sorted most of that.

Keeping people able to buy food is important. We're keeping the temp line I installed in place and the dairy guy is now working on moving food from shops that are closed.

Address here is 31 Acheson Ave, Mairehau - 348 7235 - 021 114 0699 - We have power at present and could sort access to petrol generators if that would help. Details above, just txt or yell out if help is needed in the local area.

I'm just shoveling sand and muck this morning, so I'll be in and out.
