Hi, I've had a look down the threads and can't see this, apologies if this is a tedious question, but I'm after a cheap adapter to 'give VOIP a go' and am after a recommendation.

Is SPA2102 better than PAP2T?

It will be just for one phone.

Are there any issues with buying from overseas (free delivery from Amazon.co.uk!) ? e.g. this

I'm fairly good at learning about new techy things once I get going but in this case my starting knowledge is v v low.

Any initial pointer appreciated.

So long as they are the unlocked model, then fine. Be aware that most of the unlocked ones on ebay from asia are actually ones that were locked that have been unlocked by having the entire eeprom cloned from an unlocked one, mac address and all so will not work on most providers since the mac is already in use.

Getting from the UK will mean you get a UK power adapter, so fine for home use but will not be able to be test and tagged to use in a business environment.

Definitely go the SPA2102, much better device, and there are a few bad PAP2T NA's out there to avoid. If you want to go up again, the WRP400 would be my pick.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
