hey guys,
I am looking to upgrade a bunch of our IP phones. We are currently running SPA922, 7912g and 7940 with a few pap2t. All this is going to Trixbox 2.8 (although i'm seriously considering Elastix). We are running DVX with a couple of backup lines with Orcon's digital voice service.

The 7912g have to be the worst phone we have. They constantly cut out (I think its background cancellation gone wrong). The 7940 are OK but no power over ethernet. The SPA922 are pretty good except they randomly restart sometimes. I am looking for something entry level that can be centrally provisioned. preferably with an LCD screen that allows call history, caller ID etxc. would be really good.

Any suggestions?

The common options are;

Polycom, Yealink, snom and Cisco.

The direct upgrade from your SPA922 would be the Cisco SPA502G.

The competitors rough equivalents would be the Polycom IP 321, Yealink T20P, and snom 300.

The Yealink phones would be our biggest seller by far in the last 12 months. Lots of really positive reports about them.

As Hads points out above, the spa500 series is the upgrade from the old spa94x 96x etc.. they are POE and work pretty well, same handset as the 7940 (the actual hand piece) not a bad phone at not a bad price. G722 support doesn't hurt either :P

G722/HD Audio support is a good point.

You would have to upgrade to the Polycom IP 335 to get that in their range.

The snom phones support G722 though the handset in the snom 300 isn't quite as nice acoustically as the others.

The Yealink phones all support it.

After speaking with Nice Gear I have just ordered 2x Yealink SIP-T22P phones to test with. Fingers crossed that goes well, I'll report back on what I find!

I have got an upgrade coming up in the next couple of weeks moving from Cisco 7960 to Yealink T28 on Trixbox the customer wants BLF working as well so any information you have to share from your experience.

The Yealink phones all support it.

The return rate of snom is also higher - we get virtually no Yealink phones back. Personally I'm becoming a huge Yealink fan.

Oh only just saw this. The Yealink are good phones. Easy to confgiure which is great after Linksys/Cisco via autoprovisioning and also reliable.
