Anyone has any ideas When Windows Surface Pro will be available in NZ? I can't seem to find any news on the website. Don't know if anyone in Geekzone is interested to get this device?

I'm wondering the same thing. I've since got in contact with JB Hifi, Harvey Norman seeing as both these stores in Aus have the surface. Both told me they have no idea when they'll be coming to NZ.

I got in contact with Microsoft NZ and they told me to keep an eye on PCWorld as they will have any news if/when the surface comes to NZ. Not entirely helpful...

There are a few stores that have imported them. Top end of expensive though!

I was told by Microsoft themselves that they will not be bringing them into NZ and would not support them in NZ and they strongly advised against importing one yourself as you would have no support.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I don't really believe that. It will only be a matter of time before the likes of JB Hifi and Harvey Norman bring them across the ditch. Microsoft also just opened them up to another 17 countries the other day, so I doubt they'd stop now.

Are you serious?

I was just told by their PR folks no information is available if or when these will be available in New Zealand.

Given the fantastic levels of promotion and support that windows phone received and their simply amazing marketplace experience we receive I'm sure Microsoft will do a great job bringing the surface pro here

The surface pro doesn't even have 3G. That makes it an expensive paper weight in my eyes.

My iPad would be a fraction as useful if it didn't have 3G.

3G data pricing and caps are still so ridiculous in this country that there is still no point in using it. At least in Wellington we have free wifi to use. Saves blowing my 50mb data cap in 2 minutes.

It costs $20 for 1GB mobile data on 2degrees. If you think $20 is too expensive you shouldn't be thinking of a new tablet...

Which turns into $40+ when you add calling/text. Even on their $39 pay monthly it's still only 750mb.

No it isn't. You can buy a 1GB data pack for $20 on pay as you go without a post paid plan and without buying any other services.

Also, Telecom do a 3GB data pack for $60 that lasts 90 days. So 1GB month @ $20. On prepaid.
