Windows update KB3057839 breaks PuTTY on vista for me.
Putty still works but the PuTTY Configuration screen does not display. It is like the frame is outside the monitor. Uninstalling KB3057839, fixes PuTTY.

Do I come across as a prick if I suggest ditching Fista? ;)

As this update is also for Windows 7, Windows 8 and some server versions, it may well effect others.
I have only tested on Vista.

im on 7 and putty is still working. Is this part of normal windows update or something you had to hunt out to get installed?

So if you all-star and then press M for move can you use the arrows to move the window back in screen?

Sorry I was not clear, I said it was like the frame was outside the monitor. But that  was not the issue.

+1 with this issue, only found the above post having searched for the KB number.
Alt + arrows doesn't help, you can get it to load if you use putty.exe -load <profilename> but that's not ideal as there is no way to edit your settings. It does appear to only be my Vista PC which is affected.

Do make sure that you hide KB3057839 after uninstalling or it will try to re-install the next day.

I have all the latest W7 updates, no problems with putty. Also on W10 I'm up to date, no problems.

Just to add to the chorus of annoying pricks, let me also say (even though it obviously affects you)

I installed this update and I don't have this problem.

Same thing here, kb3057839 update breaks putty on vista (but not on win7): uninstalling this update solved the problem.

More details: The settings windows don't display (but if I right click on the taskbar button and chose to move, I can move the settings window, and the position is remembered, so the window is not out of screen but just not display. And the preview on the taskbar window show an empty window UI with gray background)

PuTTY, even 0.64 last version was affect also at this English version Vista 64 bit.
Removing the KB3057839 update solved the issue.
Since some were not affect even with Vista, it may relate to some 3th application.
Like an anti-vírus solution, or graphic drivers. Here Avast and ATI.
