Ok heres the deal my friend is frustrated that his hp laptop is giving him the BSOD, so I took the laptop of his hands. I figured out the problem, but before I can resolve it the BSOD came up. The problem with his laptop is that he has downloaded 2 corrupted softwares. So I figure that I would go to add and remove hardware/software and remove the drivers of the corrupting software. I have tried several times even attempted to go to safe mode, but it will not work. So I have two options off the top of my head; Do I A: attempt to use the restoration CD from XP service pack 2, but if I can't find it option B: would be restoring it to service pack 1 and downloading service pack 2 online. If you have any suggestions please let me know and hopefully salvage my friends laptop.
I tried the system restore, but no luck even if I was able to the BSOD will stop me. And with safe mode I cant even enter safe mode because of the corrupt drivers. So my question is (Will I have to use the restoration disk to solve the problem?)
How about trying to use the restoration disk to do a repair? I am assuming your restoration disk is an XP setup CD. With an XP setup CD you can repair a Windows installation to copy the original standard windows drivers across.
yes you might be right, but the only restoration cd I have is for service pack 1. I know for a fact that if a windows user has service pack 1 then they easily upgrade to service pack 2. If this is a good game plan please respond.
