I'm running the preview on my main work device and it runs great (I'm a network engineer and use it heavily, both onsite and in the office docked with dual screens). Also running on a test machine at home and never had any problems with it.

Only gotcha I have found is my laptop always crashes coming out of sleep mode.
Core2Duo ASUS F6V laptop.

Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!

nzkiwiman: After getting a new mSATA, I'm going to remove my current mSATA drive and install Windows 10 Preview on the new drive.
Any large "gotcha's" I need to be really worried about with the current build.

90% of the data for my system will continue to live on a 2TB drive attached to the system via a USB Dock so I am not worried about data loss.

Install and play away. Nothing else to do. No gotchas.

Even if you could I wouldn't recommend it. It's never a good idea to leave beta pieces around.

It should work or in worst case you can refresh back to Windows 8 and then install the free Windows 10 update.

Also if it's UEFI it should get the Windows key from the hardware automatically.

Therefore if you had a preinstalled version of windows 8, would you not be S.O.L? Of course you can extract your key.. but I'm guessing that's not going to work in activating windows 10 when it is released

Have a look at Thurrott.com. Paul is currently doing a series about fresh installs and mentions situations like this (how and where to find you key, etc)

Yes, this actually makes a difference especially on 64bit systems.

My recommendation for the best windows experience and the least issues is to just do a clean default install and try not to change any settings (other than colours and screen resolutions).

Should work fine. Have you tried uninstal/reinstalling them?

Anyone else get a regular nag screen saying it need to restart at 12.00am to install updates. I get this all the time, and doesn't appear to be anyway to disab;e it our updates. Hope windows 10 doesn't force updates like the technical release does.

Thanks, yes I suspect it will, as it will be like windows RT which forces updates through.

Windows Update is not able to be disabled in the Technical Preview, this is by design and explained in the "what you should know" section of the preview install guide

this is just for the Preview

RT can have its updates disabled.
