This might be a silly question, but just wondering if someone who has a surface pro can check to see if it will tether to an iphone via bluetooth (turn off wifi, but enable tethering and select USB and Bluetooth when prompted).

Also, with the prices bandied around am just wondering what additional things the average user might need to purchase to make the device usable and if these kind of things will be available at launch time. For example, with my IPad I have a bluetooth keyboard, a cygnet case that also makes a good stand (I know the pro has a built in stand), some screen protector stickons and an additional charging cable/dock.

If Windows 8 can tether Surface Pro can tether, I do it over WiFi but never tried BT myself

With mine I have a Touch Cover and Type Cover

The retailers sell accessories like Incipio cases in all the different Touch Cover colours, chargers (both Pro & RT chargers will work), Surface Wedge Microsoft BT mice, Extra Stylus, HDMI / VGA out dongles, USB3 gigabit Ethernet adapters, screen protectors etc

Personally I don't bother with screen protector myself since my keyboard covers the screen when I carry around

If you're in Auckland your welcome to come into the Micosoft office and see any of those accessories on my Surface Pro if you want.

If I can get some hands-on time in-store I can probably solve all of my questions.

Am trying to get the surface pro to tether to the iphone 4s via bluetooth tethering. If anyone has managed this, can they give me some pointers?

Edit: Solved (couple of minutes after posting):-

On Iphone turn off wifi and turn on bluetooth, turn on hotspot and select bluetooth and USB (this is what I do for tethering to ipad). Pair with Surface (not sure how I managed that).

Control Panel, Devices and Printers, right click the phone device and select 'connect via..' and hotspot. Took a couple of attempts but it managed to connect.

The surface pro was available yesterday. I got mine from Noel Leeming in chch, although the store I was in didn't realise they had them until they checked inventory. I got the store I was in to set one up on display as well (because I wanted to see it first).

Am quite happy with it (typing this post on it) with the exception is that it wont hold a Bluetooth connection so my network keeps going offline.

I have the type keyboard which is taking some adjusting to as I am a touch typist, have discovered that I need to use the ends of my fingers and ensure I get a good click, but starting to speed up now without missing keystrokes.

Off topic I know, but could you not have determined the time zone from the country/state selected, or alternatively, how about using a conventional time zone selection method. Looking down a list of very similar date and times to spot the number that was different is not all that inspiring :)
