I am looking forward to being able to put the Anniversary update on my machines, I have the latest insider build on my Surface and it is running very well indeed.

Wonder how many PCs out there running RTM will crash and burn doing the update??

Regards,

Old3eyes

With every major OS update there will always be a percentage of devices that will experience issues. The recent Insider updates I have received have been pain free. MSFT are doing a staggered release so I think it should go smoothly.

I have a fairly old ASUS tablet running Insider Fast Ring and never had a problem.

Windows 10 had settled down quite nicely for me then a forced 'update' a few weeks back started off the whole "I'm gonna completely freeze at a random point between 30 seconds and 10 minutes" saga all over again. I'm back to using the computer as little as possible and using my Android devices as much as I can. Once I perceive Android as a fully fledged OS that'll be the end of Microsoft OS's for me.

Edit: edited to make more sense
Edit: didn't work

Been having this problem on the laptop I've had on the insider programme. Thought it had to do with that and never looked into it.. Seems i'm not alone!  It's such a stupid issue, no idea how to kick it back into life, or how long it'll take to come back 'untouched'.

Anything about it? Or just no complaints about stuff not working?

Two PC's done with one in progress. On the two done all is working fine and as expected from my experience with the insider builds. A painless straight forward update that has not taken long to complete.

Do you have old torrented movies etc or ripped DVD's?

Have you disconnected peripherals?

If you read the support/kb article it is likely to primarily affect any music you ripped off CD's using Windows Media Player during the Windows XP era (i.e.10 years ago) or online store purchases of music/tv shows in Windows Media format (e.g. Coke Tunes, Digirama, TVNZ On Demand).

Plenty of copied video and audio files, but from when I have no idea.  It would have been better if it'd identified which files it found so I could make an more informed decision.  I clicked confirm and did the update anyway.

Everything went smoothly, and finally an update where my pdf preferences weren't automatically reset to Edge!

I am extremely unhappy. Today I arrive to work on my domain joined machine, the Update has downloaded, and not installed, but my machine is acting crazy, so I realize a reboot is going to be required. It says it will install the update, no way to shutdown and defer the upgrade, so in the starting hour of my day I can't do any work because of this update.

To top it off the video driver goes crazy after the update and I need to uninstall and reinstall it, TWICE to make it work.

What a waste of 90 minutes of my day!

I just ran the update. Some minor glitches along the way but otherwise it didn't hose my system. HOWEVER, I can no longer run my old Windows games. I have the Win 7 games folder modified for Win 8 and they work fine on the other version of Win 10. I am talking about Chess, Hearts, Freecell and others. Now they don't run at all. I have tried all possibilities of compatibility mode but nothing happens when I click on a game. No errors, no sign of loading, just no response at all.

For me this is a deal breaker. I play the chess game in particular all the time. It is the best chess game for casual players that I have ever found and I am not prepared to live without it. I also still enjoy the other games. I know MS officially withdrew these after Win 7 but this is important to me. If I can't find a way to get the games to work I will roll back. Before I go to all that hassle and the not-impossible risk that it will screw something else up, does anyone know a fix for this?

Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
