insane:onebytemike: I never noticed the 12 month upgrade requirement on it before. If it wasn't for the win8, this might not have been much of an issue but I can't many people wanting to "upgrade" from win7.
I agree, I've been running win8 at work since released and it makes for a rather poor workstation experience. Really sucks that you need it to manage multiple 2012 servers from a single screen, not that I do that yet as I have no production 2012 servers yet, but have to be prepared.
I suspect 2K8 R2 SPx be the status quo for longer than 2K3 if MS don't kill off support. Why break / change what's not broken.
I've also been running it since release. I honestly tried to stay positive about it. There's some stuff that I quite like, but over time it just wears you down. There are so many unintuitive ways the UI works that it slowly wears you down!
Doesn't help that the 5.0 viclient doesn't run, either!
I'm not sure where I stand with 2012 yet. I like the OS and have started using it in production and have also seen customers choosing 2012 for their _new_ systems. Haven't seen anyone upgrade though.
The only reason I'd say that 2k8 would be teh status quo longer than 2k3 was is due to virtualization. You don't have a hardware refresh driving OS changes any more!!
