Screen - they really need to address the small font problem - I like my font set to 100% so it works well with remote desktop. However, one needs to sit very close to the Surface screen in order to be able to read the text. I have not tried the device connected directly to a monitor as I don't have the correct HDMI adaptor.
Hmm, must say I'm a bit confused on this. As far as I can see the fonts look normal for 1920x1080 on a ~10" screen. Are you asking them to decrease screen resolution, or increase screen size?
I am really thinking if that resolution is ideal for a 10" screen. For one aspect if using the pen and touch it is a requirement to have a good pixel pitch and resolution, but from a readability aspect it a little too small at 100% (I think the default setting is 125% which looks horrible when one remotes into the machine). Its the pixel pitch (and kind of the resolution) that dictate the viewing distance from the device.
Realistically I think the windows designers need to understand that tablets get used in different modes (unlike laptops), there are three basic connections, direct viewing, connected monitor and remote access, each needing their own settings. Yet windows 8.1 really only supports two of those modes.
