jarledb: Nice concept, will be interesting to see how it will be priced and what people will think of it. And not to mention, when it will actually be available as a consumer product (and not a developer beta).

It does seem like the Microsoft PR-machine maybe got a little carried away on its promotional video, because there is no way its going to be as slick as what is portrayed. Anyone remember the launch of Kinect?

Seeing the short clips of actual use from the launch shows the difference between the thought up world of the promo video and the actual world of the HoloLens.

Mind you, Wired seems stocked and convinced

the question to ask is Wired got to use the product before announce today under embargo. Did Polygon?

Probably not. I am guessing Polygon is basing it on previous experience and seeing both the PR-video and the presentation with some short glimpses of the gear in actual use.

But then Wireds article is not a review of HoloLenses. And says nothing about how well it works as such.

nathan: this has been many many years in development :)

Tell me about it. I know someone in Seattle who has been working on this for years and they said they are so relieved to finally be able to tell family and friends what they have been doing.

It looks great and I can't wait to give it a go myself. That's a lot coming from someone celebrating their 20th year as an Apple fanboi!

I moved away from Windows a year ago, not because of Windows, but to get full integration with iPhone, iPad, rMBP, pretty happy. But I have to say that I am impressed where MS is going in the last few months. W10, Hololens, Surface Table, integration via unification. While I doubt there will be much effect on the loyal Apple user crowd, I can see an impetus for Windows mobile, it just makes sense to be in a full ecosystem, and I heard that there are a few Windows users out there... :-) Android may take more of a hit with his step forward.
