timmmay: I do have a local account, but I don't remember if I created the shares using it. Have you checked file and share permissions?

I'm pretty sure I had all the permissions etc correct. I'll double check tonight. There seems to be an issue when using a Microsoft account, the shared folders still require a password etc even when you've switched passwords for that share off.

Try network and sharing center -> advanced sharing settings, there are some things you can tweak in there. I don't think my shares were done by a local user, and if they were I've changed everything since then anyway.
