Dreal: You're actually probably right. When I get up the wait list, I will most likely go for it. Buuuut, you do work for Microsoft. Just sayin' ;P

YOu can just download it manually...

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

My machines were all domain connected so used this tool instead.

When I download the 64-bit tool from this link and open the exe, nothing happens. That is, I get asked if I give permission for it to open, I say yes, then, nada, bupkiss, zero, zilch. No new processes show up in Task Manager either.

EDIT: Whoops, should've RTFM. Need to run as admin. Not a promising start, I guess.

OK, now I'm confused. I selected Run as Administrator, and STILL nothing happened. "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer?" "Yes" - and nada. What am I still doing wrong?

It's running fine for me. But then again, i am running it on windows 7. Try running the tool on another PC (it's making a disc after all, so doesn't matter where you run it)

Thanks, I'll try it on my my 8.1 laptop. Odd that I can't run it on my Win 7 64 Pro PC though

Installing as an update on a tablet as we speak. Takes its time no doubt!

Done two upgrades using the media download tool, Win 8.1 Home to 10 Home, and Win 7 pro to Win 10 Pro.

Both have gone smoothly without any issue yet. Can't say my life has changed for the better though, wasn't exactly having problems before.

I went an installed it, on a tablet.

It's really cool. Its fast, its clean looking, the interface works great for either desktop or a tablet. Good work microsoft!
