Have had no issues with the HP Laptop, unfortunately the HP Tablet had issues during the upgrade (looked to be going all well) and is now stuck on a blank screen. Haven't got around yet to figuring out how to downgrade it back to 8.1.

Rikkitic: I would like to go back, but am frankly afraid to. After my upgrade experience, I don't trust Windows not to make a mess of it. At the moment it is not quite bad enough to be worth he trouble, but that may change.

I have downgraded many times. Works perfectly. But agree image restore is a cleaner way to do it

I upgraded from 8.1 again, but this time from an iso mounted from within Windows. I did that to have an option to not update my drivers. So far so good. I will update the drivers myself if needed thanks very much.

I'll probably go back to 8.1 with my Vaio laptop, Sony are not releasing '10' drivers until November and the problems I have (fan running full speed continuously, discrete graphics card crashes machine) are just too annoying. Disappointing that MS and Sony between them couldn't have managed this a bit better

I did 2 different installs from 8.1 -> 10.

1. using the auto update method. it downloaded all the 10 drivers from dell. no idea how it knew how to do that. screwed a few things up.

so i flashed the 8.1 image before I installed 10.

2. immediately downloaded a 10 ISO. from iso clicked setup and declined to download updates. updated to 10 running 100% 8.1 drivers. no problems other than nvidia - so i just downloaded the nividia win 10 driver

note: there is no option not to download updates with the automatic method, i double checked

joker97: I've discovered a few hardware driver issues since updating to 10. I like the interface, so will try updating without driver updates ... Hmm ... Not sure if a good idea or not

I had a hard time getting my cisco vpn client to work on win10 -- was almost a show stopper until I found a work around that works.

The information from Sony's site is kind of worse for systems with OEM W7 than W8/8.1 - at least with W8/8.1 there's a schedule for driver release, with OEM W7 it looks like the plan is to release a list of incompatibilities with no schedule for updates. Not MS's problem IMO - Sony are the problem here. I'd expect that as well as a zillion different Vaio models, then there's probably a zillion different possible configurations with users having different updates for bios and bloatware installed - a great stinking mess - and with Sony out of the business, they're not incentivised to get it sorted. These days they're a lousy company in retail electronic goods IMO, and in an abandoned line, then we're getting about what I'd expect.

I've installed W10 on an OEM Win7 Vaio SVE15118, i7 3612QM with HD 7650M. I bought it new as an obsolete model - being dumped at very low prices at the time right after W8 release. I use it exclusively as an HTPC, so the crappy screen is irrelevant, the bulky/thick form factor probably a bonus for cooling / fan noise. I replaced the slow 750GB HDD with a 500GB SSD.

I'd already dumped most of the Vaio bloatware except control centre, and "smart network" which have migrated across fine.
W10 install changed a few settings, enabled hybrid sleep - which was an issue as it took a long time (30 seconds+) to wake, but disabled and no probs. It also changed USB power settings, external USB 3 drive was throwing repeated "USB device not recognised" errors. Changing windows power settings (USB selective suspend) didn't seem to sort it, but Vaio control centre USB "charge setting" allowing USB power in sleep/suspend seems to have that issue sorted, though it's thrown the error a couple of times since and there may be a USB3 driver issue, but it's not terminal.
No issues with graphics / CCC, sound, touchpad, or CPU speed control - which seem to be commonly raised glitches with vaio / W10. I thought I had an issue with inbuilt screen backlight control - the on-screen brightness display bar doesn't work, however if I hold the function & screen + or - key down, despite nothing happening on the display bar, it does work fine.

I had some issues getting the updates working on my 3 PCs at home - but am very happy with Win 10 on all of them.

Everything seems to work just as I would expect, and no software or driver issues I have come across yet on any of the machines.

I installed win 10 insider on a 7 year old entry level vaio with only support for vista drivers.

Every single button worked.

Just for fun - I installed Windows 10 Home 32-bit on a 2007 model EeePC (designed for Win XP) with a single-core Atom CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and a slow 60GB HDD.
The install was slow, as expected, but all drivers were installed automatically at first boot.

It runs slowly, but no slower than it did on XP.

not sure if you saw the announcemnt 15 months ago that Sony has decided to sell its VAIO PC business to Japan Industrial Partners

Microsoft has been completely open and engaged with PC vendors even way before the Technical Preview release in October 2014, it was well known Windows 10 releasing in July 29, 2015

I installed Win 10 Pro x64 on my 2010-vintage VPCZ1 Vaio without any problems.

This will be my last Vaio, and I want to keep it as long as possible - pity they went out of production

Just went back to 8.1 last night. I found Windows 10 to feel like it was designed by committee. Also 8.1 was phenomenally faster than Windows 7, but I can say hand on heart that 10 was slower on my system than 8.1. Even after a few days of letting it do it's sly background patching is was still pretty slow to reboot and log on. Final straw was Windows 10 includes KB3064209 which basically scuppers my G3258 processor.
