Sweet, I sometimes use screen magnifier so I wont even be lying when I click it ;)

How I completed my Windows 10 upgrade at 9.30PM Saturday as my case had not yet arrived... (Note SSD off camera, going to upgrade to one of the NVME SSD's soon enough as budget allows :) )

One thing I cannot figure out. Microsoft have determined my laptop is able to run Win 10 yet the manufacturer says otherwise.

I upgraded a machine today just to claim the licence to maintain machine resale value. From memory 'reserve' does not do that, installation must be completed. Tho revert is OK after that, 10 is still valid for the machine.

I have a laptop - specs are fine i5, HD3000 + AMD Radeon graphics, which won't upgrade because the graphics fails compatability. 

I've tried new drivers, disabling either cards to fix it but no luck.

I'm sure if I put on a fresh copy of Windows 10 it would detect the graphics chips and install fine however I need to upgrade first - catch 22 situation

I'm not too fussed as I still prefer Windows 7 however like you, would like Windows 10 for resale value

 I did manage to get my Windows 10 install working with a pair of 4850's with crossfire by extracting the drivers (running the installer does this) and manually pointing windows to the old drivers. This caused a couple of glitches where the start menu sometimes wouldn't open and have since upgraded :p

There are various comments o online stating a bypass is possible. Short story

Then add a DWORD (32bit) called AllowOSUpgrade and set the value to 1.

I have not needed it or tried it. I suggest a backup and having MCT standing by for a clean install attempt if the upgrade fails part way. In the worst case hopefully it gets you far enough to claim the key for the machine and do that. Personally I would disable the radeon in bios prior.

Edit: in the worst worst case it's obvious you need a means to reinstall or restore the previous OS.

However I think I've missed the boat anyway - the free upgrade expired 29 July - even allowing for overseas time it's too late (it even says so on MS website)
