Tending towards a 32GB/1TB i7 Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio $4649
Are the keyboards backlit ?
Edit: Yes, looks to be the case... think this is the winner.
Right-o, no objections so...

I had problems with our earlier generation MS surface ... heat management was poor and it ended up dying early.
I'm sure this will likely be fixed in the latest generation though.
But, you'll find that with any device , someone will have problems. Too bad manufacturers don't release reliability data.
Out of the Windows laptops I consider the AMD mobile CPU's having much better thermals and performance than Intel mobile CPU's but they are rare to find.
Surface Laptop 5 is my solid pick of the bunch with the HP Elitebook Dragonfly at a close 2nd.
Now just because you need Windows I wouldn't cross off Macbook line completely.
Apple M1/M2 hardware is quite possibly the best value for money with better power to performance ratio than any Windows Intel/AMD Laptop - power of ARM processor here.
Using Windows on Macbook M1/M2 you just need to purchase a copy of Parallels Desktop to install on and you can run Windows 11 from the Mac desktop - it works flawlessly on the M1/M2 even when gaming.

Work entails looking at detailed hi-def pictures basically - no real processing power is needed, no fancy GPU or anything, it doesn't have to have loads of i/o connectivity or anything (a couple of TB4 ports is adequate), and we only have StarLink so nothing fancy there network wise.. a light-weight unit, with a backlit keyboard in the approx. 13" range is the aim, something easy to take on the plane etc, main thing is a really good screen, since images are the important thing.
Could you spend $3k on a decent laptop and then $2k on a very nice monitor help you look at your pictures?
