Interesting, I have a 2wire here and had some problems with my Intel Centrino not finding the wireless networks, and changed the wireless band to 2412MHz in addition to driver updates and now it works great.

Windows maybe seeing your wireless connection as a "Public" connection and may not connect (due to default settings). In Network and Sharing Centre, try setting "Network Discovery" to on for Public Networks..

Cheers ;-)

That model doesn't seem that old, it's pretty crap NEC don't offer Windows 7 drivers for it.

Best course of action may be to reinstall Windows XP on it, sell it then buy a brand that has better ongoing support.

Try the windows vista drivers since windows 7 is fundamentally vista behind the scenes.

This is why it didn't have the launch problems vista had.

i tried everything to be honest. the drivers from vista dont install , just says its not compatible with this version of windows.
tried compatability mode and all that junk. doesnt work
the main problem is that nec are supposed to put the drivers on their web page or something for users to download them. according to them, my laptop is a 'old' model.
ffs i only bought it a year ago >.<
good excuse to buy a gaming pc though, getting myself an assassin from play tech
ftw ^^
