Just to clarify here - you installed one of the 3 pack from DSE over the RC version without any problems?
I'm about to do the same thing, but don't want to get the 3 pack version if you NEED to have an XP key.
* I see this has been alluded to, but I'm still shy of spending $300 smackers on something DSE staff told me wouldn't work. I know not all DSE staff are not created equal, but most I've come across are pretty good *

I got the same pack from the states back in November last year, you definitely do not need XP to install it. The disc just works as a clean install

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Damn it.. might just have to go buy it tommorw. Is there a microsoft site to check compatibility for windows 7?

Yes, did exactly that, I have been running the RC on my laptop since i got a new hd about 6 months ago. I have the old hd still with xp and a key for it so wasn't too worried if I had to reinstall xp, would have just been a pain. I have heard mixed reports with some people having success and some not, guess you will just have to take the plunge.

FWIW, the upgrade didn't work for me. I was running the RC of win7, and it wouldn't recognise the new install.
Got around it with the double-install trick, but.... meh.

As a side thought, does anybody know if there is a time limit to activation for this 3 pack?
If I used two now, and upgraded another in 6 months time, = no problem?
I can't imagine it 'expiring' like anti-virus software does, but still; any cavets?

No you should be quite safe leaving copies unactivated for as long as you want. We have activated copies of XP for the first time 4+ years after they were purchased.
