yep, it will work fine.

Not always...

However as long as you can follow instructions you can get it to work if you run into trouble.

Hmm..now... where the heck did I put my XP product key in case I do have issues and need to upgrade from XP... (bang head on desk) - hope I recorded it in my password file :)

Go back in, just with your receipt should be fine, and they will usually refund you the difference. Though as its software, they may do it as an exchange for goods or gift vouchers only.

Yeah was going to give that a go. Pretty happy with the purchase, upgraded from the RC last night and it worked flawlessly. Was expecting to have to reinstall XP but not required :)

Assuming you have a running installation of XP, you can always recover it via something like "ProduKey"

All I did was first run easy transfer and copied all my files to an external hdd. Then I just chucked the win 7 disc in my dvd drive and away she went. Can't remember exactly what options i chose but it worked without a hitch. Next is to upgrade from vista business on my desktop, not sure if that will work or not though.

I'm about to do the same thing, but don't want to get the 3 pack version if you NEED to have an XP key.
* I see this has been alluded to, but I'm still shy of spending $300 smackers on something DSE staff told me wouldn't work. I know not all DSE staff are not created equal, but most I've come across are pretty good *

Watching with interest too.. Have Win7RC about to expire on one PC.. keen to upgrade Windows XP home on another to Windows 7.

Yes, did exactly that, I have been running the RC on my laptop since i got a new hd about 6 months ago. I have the old hd still with xp and a key for it so wasn't too worried if I had to reinstall xp, would have just been a pain. I have heard mixed reports with some people having success and some not, guess you will just have to take the plunge.
