I noticed that after the update, it changes the 'choose how updates are delivered' settings. It sets it so future windows updates are set to now download over other peoples PCs again . I know I had previously disabled this on my PCs, but they re-enabled it. Ironically I had to reenter my password to disable it disabled it again, yet Microsoft re-enabled the setting to enable it without my permission with the update. You really have to watch this sort of thing.

Thanks to everyone posting settings changes. Guess I'm checking settings this morning.

Please put this feedback into Feedback Hub, settings should not be getting changed with feature updates, this is a bug

Please put this feedback into Feedback Hub, settings should not be getting changed with feature updates, this is a bug

I'd add that I checked this when I upgraded, and it was still disabled for me.

Anniversary. I have ESET full trial installed, but I also have the Windows Defender icon in the tray saying system is potentially unprotected. Iirc this did not occur prior to anniversary, but not 100℅ sure. It is not my machine but I did the 10 upgrade and then did anniversary a few days later.

My settings are still fine (unchanged) on my SP4 for update delivery and my default browser setting is still fine too...same on the desktop.

The only thing I have had to so so far is disk cleanup and re-do a regedit (expected).

Anyone else had the dreaded black screen after update? I updated 2 laptops - one an Acer 64bit and the other a Pavilion which originally ran Win 7. This morning SWMBO went to get her email on the HP - all she could get was a black screen. No cursor, no sign of anything on screen. Wifi indicator did not come up. Talked to Dr Google who suggested this was not uncommon and one possibility could be the machine trying to hook up to 2 displays. Plugged in a spare display and tried to move the mouse to far side of screen in either direction. No sign of any image. No other peripherals were hooked up initially. Later added ethernet cable along with the spare monitor - no difference. One of Googles suggestions was to hit the power button during bootup - power button must be now neaqrly worn out but eventually it did appear to work. Before that I had plugged in a USB with creation file but the machine did not recognise the drive. Nor did it recognise shortcuts on booting such at F2 or F8. Initially I thought I might have a new Linux box as there was no Windows CD with the machine - its all neatly hidden on a recovered partition which of course I could not see.

Just checked this and you're correct.

Microsoft should not change previous settings that don't directly impact the system operation.

After my upgrade Edge had replace Acrobat as my default PDF viewer. On trying to change my default applications I see that while I can change .html to Chrome (default browser) .htm cannot be edited and remains linked to Edge. A few other default programs had changed and had to be restored as they cropped up.

Also all previously removed bloatware through the uninstall process and through Powershell were all restored after the anniversary update. I have had to remove it all again. not sure if it is new but task manager shows a statistics history for apps and in less than a day Microsoft Photos had consumed nearly an hour of CPU time, miles ahead of anything else and it had never been opened. Needless to say it was the first item removed.

Notifications are slow in Outlook. My email notifications slide in one to two hours after the email has arrived and been processed.

There were no showstoppers in the update for me and overall Windows 10 is still a leap ahead over 7 on my Lenovo T410 in terms of speed and performance. It gave it a new lease of life.

Thanks for confirming. I've found the problem with the Windows Defender icon being in different/wrong size within the Explorer menu has to do with scaling: if I run my laptop at 100% or 125% the icon shows fine. If I run at 150% then the icon is larger than all other icons. Because of the laptop's resolution I usually run it at 150% - hence the oversized Windows Defender icon. All other icons are ok (posted this image before but here for clarity):

I had a black screen after the computer rebooted to install updates. Couldn't understand what was happening till I read this post and realised that it had defaulted to hdmi out which is to the tv. Confirmed when I switched on tv to see update screen. Then the power went. Wholesale power outage here in Hawkes Bay. So third time lucky!

Well, I was enjoying the update until the laptop crashed and rebooted. No BSD, no notice, no nice shutdown, just out and reboot. Only Opera and Firefox running at the time, This is an HP Elitebook 8760w that I've never ever had crash on me. Fortunately it's a mobile back-up to the desktop (still Win 7), so not critical.

As a few others have noted, the update did not keep my settings such as not allowing web sharing of updates. This is despite going through a custom update and ensuring all the correct boxes were ticked. No biggy to change things, but I shouldn't need to. Default programs seem to be as they were.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.
