Windows service host can and usually does host 3rd party programs. It is a bit early to pin this one on the operating system.

Given it pretty much every other program i use has its own entry im pretty sure its a windows issues as when i close the windows service it stops

@nathan I used to create email messages on my localhost and to use in Outlook I would open the html using Internet Explorer and select Send via Email. This would create a new html email ready to send in Outlook.

After Windows Anniversary Update using Internet Explorer Send via Email actually create a new email but attaches the HTML file instead of creating a HTML email like before.

Not happy.

mostly ok but have problems with other microsoft downloads. Both my desktop and laptop dont receive office or skype updates.I have the tick to receive other updates.I have looked on line and find hundreds of others with the same problems.Desktop has office 2013 , the laptop lost office 2013 when it had to be reloaded. I now have Office 2016.Checked others and found security updates on PCs with office 2007 and 2010 being received. Why not current office ???

Windows 10 has been behaving itself quite well until the last two weeks. I am getting odd freezes and only when Edge is running. Everything just stops except for the mouse which moves fine but can do nothing else. Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing I have to force power off to get back running. There are no error messages and nothing in the Windows Logs that would relate. The only critical log entries are for the forced shutdown and nothing significant before hand.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I like Win10 per se, but I hate the updates.

I do not like the way it just deletes apps it doesnt like, even though they were running perfectly well on Win10.

Win10 really hates the MS Win7 games and deletes them without warning or apology.

Looks like Edge is getting virtualised.

After the anniversary update my PIN login broke.....so had to try to remember the password on my almost-never-used Microsoft account.

There are a few niggles around network performance. Stuff that used to go fast not seems to go much slower.

You might be in the same boat as me, I thought mine had broken too. Turns out there is a dropdown under the password box on the login screen for password or pin input. I changed mine back to pin and it has been fine since.

Fixed my pointer issue. I had a problem where the default pointer would be used instead of my custom pointer.
I had my custom pointers stored in my %USERPROFILE%\Documents\my pointers folder and changed that to c:/my_pointers
And they started working.

Looks like windows 10 does not like accessing %USERPROFILE% like file references from the registry.

Could this be affecting other settings from being recalled correctly. Like the system sleep/ power savings settings?

My PC only updates during quiet hours when I'm not using it. What is your PC doing that is so important during those times?

Usually for me its got several browsers open with pages I want to re-visit and sometimes encoding a video or something.

Disabling windows update service solves it. Just have to remember to reneable on patch day.

My computers are not powered up 24/7. So if I had left it for a few days it has this insatiable desire to update, usually it warns me, but if I okayed it, it takes over the system! Resulting in lags slow downs and crashes until I restart it. The worst was missus was working on a document and apparently just restarted without warning.
