Where do we find this?

I've done 10 upgrades (some easy, some not), and so far and haven't seen it.

For me it popped up as a notification today (so that's two days after install). Probably gives you a bit of time to play it with before asking?

I saw it and gave a nine. The upgrade icon disappeared but the USB download was quick and installation painless.

When upgrading from windows 7 to 10 I found a problem with outlook 2010 not sending emails. It looks to be a common problem, and apparently a diskscan via admin access to CMD is needed to clean things up. I haven;t yet completed the scan, so don;t know if it fixes it.

Edit: It does fix it.

In time: you mean "sfc /scannow"?

Four machines so far, 3 desktops and 1 laptop (Surface).

1. Surface went smoothly via USB
2. One desktop went fine via setup in the downloaded folder
3. One desktop actually popped up an offer to to upgrade now or later. This is my son's and while he's apprehensive about it, we are going ahead since we just recently installed a SSD via cloning so if it all turns to custard we just clone the SSD back from the HD (very little data would be lost).

The other two desktops have C:\$Windows.~BT folders but one is about 6GB and the other 1.7GB. No offer to upgrade yet so I might bite the bullet and run from the USB.

I can't imagine how less experience users would handle all these different situations.

[UPDATE]

The desktop (my son's) went through smoothly from the offer to update application.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Less experienced users are probably just figuring that there turn hasn't come up yet? (That is if you didn't know better, then would you trust the "From July 29 we'll be slowly rolling it out" part of the messaging?)

Have you tried using the media creation tool and doing an upgrade?

Yes :)

they'd not know to poke around in C:\$Windows.~BT  and the upgrade would happen in the background once the reservation opened for that machine.

There are about 3000 upgrades happening every minute.  14 million machines running Windows 10 now as of a few hours ago.

discovered the "media creation tool" - a very good disguise for upgrading an entire OS!

fingers crossed it will work ... my win 8.1 is not smooth ... surely win 10 can't get any worse?
