Anyone consider alternative devices such as Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 or Samsung ATIV Tab Smart PC Pro 700T to Windows surface tablet that runs windows 8?

Microsoft needs to be catch up on their global distribution plan and they need to realise that not everyone lives in the status. Otherwise, other manufacture will very soon to release with their own windows 8 tablet devices.

I have a surface tablet, as do a couple colleagues of mine that we ordered in from USA. They are really quite cheap if you order it that way. US$499. I love mine...sorry iPad, but you have nothing on this!! I guess the only thing is that there aren't the same amount of free apps, a great replacement for a lap top though

Awesome. Where abouts did you order them from? And how much was the shipping?

From YouShop www.nzpost.co.nz/products-services/online-shopping/youshop...32gb with soft key pad and shipping...all up cost me around NZ$800. Comes preloaded with MS Office. Wish I'd waited to get the Pro. But all in all, cheaper than an iPad!!

You probably ordered somewhere else, as YouShop is just a shipping service, surely?

Yes, I am telling exactly that. You used YouShop to ship the products, not to buy them.

snuu: Purchased directly from http://surface.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/Content/pbpage.Surface?ESICaching=off

So you are just confirming what I said before. You bought from a retailer online, and shipped through YouShop.

Kingy: There are a few stores that have imported them. Top end of expensive though!

freitasm: It costs $20 for 1GB mobile data on 2degrees. If you think $20 is too expensive you shouldn't be thinking of a new tablet...

I have a 3g enabled NEXUS 7 on 2degrees prepaid sim, how do I go about getting this 1gb and does it auto renew?

That's parallel imported.

ASUS has a Windows 8 RT tablet available in New Zealand (saw one at DSE last weekend), and they announced a Windows 8 Pro tablet today.
