im thinking about reverting on my laptop.   I can get "normal" 2 finger scrolling to stick after reboots and keeps going to the stupid apple way.  closing the lid half the time wont come back after reopening, and half of that, it uses all the power and i have to recharge it.   none of these issues exists with 8.1.

interface is nicer, love the start menu, but its starting to annoy me (espeically the finger scrolling, as on my work laptop can only be "normal" so 2 different computers do it 2 different ways)

That's strange for you two. Must be the exception. People usually have no problems, one or two quirks, and the odd driver problem which may or may not be enough to top them back to 8.1 which is as fast, just different

Hence people felt there is nothing lost by staying back in 8.1

I bought a high-end asus d2x sound card a couple of years back --- still no windows 10 drivers.  In general I've found Asus to be poor at supporting older hardware.

Curiously, the windows 8.1 drivers do not work on win10, but the windows 8.0 drivers do work. So, at least i can get it working.

I generally prefer HP, Lenovo and Dell for their online support which tends to be very good. That includes keeping old drivers up to date. I've found Acer, Asus and other brands to be more difficult to support.

Before upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 I would at least make sure that supported drivers exist for Windows 8/8.1 to minimise the likelihood of failure. Having said that, I visited my retired aunt in the weekend and was very surprised to see that she had upgraded her 2008 Compaq Windows 7 laptop with no problems at all. She has no plans to revert back and the only she issue she has is the new version of the Freecell game.

shk292:  In Device manager, what display adapter is showing for your Vaio laptop?  (My Vaio from April 2010 has an AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series and updated to Win 10 64 bit OK and now has an AMD driver dated 15-Jul-15.)  The problem isn't with Sony or MS - it is with the maker of the display adapter. If your adapter is AMD HD 4000 series or earlier, you are unlikely to ever get a Win 10 driver.

joker97: I've discovered a few hardware driver issues since updating to 10. I like the interface, so will try updating without driver updates ... Hmm ... Not sure if a good idea or not

I had a hard time getting my cisco vpn client to work on win10 -- was almost a show stopper until I found a work around that works.

Me too.  Run it now as 8.1 compatibility, and it's fine
