Linux:

17+ years

I think I remember you... J... :O

A reply from Spark:

"Hi there - I've added 5G to your SIM profile - as we don't directly support that type of device it wasnt added automatically (there are cases where unsupported device misbehave leading to a poor experience).

Reading through the thread - it's worth noting coverage 5G coverage in Petone is increasing as we upgrade sites 5G service will depend on where you are - basically towards Alicetown and then towards seaview are done - but not central petone yet.

let us know how you get on with your device  regards, Gajan"

So, naughty call centre indeed?!

Just as I suspected and this is why you did not need to head down the path you were with the AT commands

I hope it resolves the issue. I've yet to connect the laptop in a 5G coverage area to see if I get that connection.

Even checking FB Messenger convo with Spark, dating to when I purchased the data only plan and SIM, I got the following response:

"The SIM will be able to use 3G/4G/LTE or 5G it just depends on the capabilities of the device the SIM is in"

So really getting this information from two different sources and it not being true (the other being the call 11-12 days ago) is really not on.

From now on, all my queries with Spark will go through @gajan

Now I hope you understand why I told you that you were wasting your time with the AT commands
