OK...I got most things sorted out now...the remotes were simply me not having installed the iMon software...easy fix.

What I do notice, is I can now do other tasks outside Media Center, like scroll and type, without Media Center forcing the system to come back to it, as it did previously...
Previously to type or scoll, the only way to go was to close Media Center, meaning ya couldnt really watch/listen to TV in the background, while possibly typing something up....so thats a good change.

One little thing that always bugged me...and it seems to still be a problem (proberly just for me) is I dont seem to be able to control the system sound....no control over mute or sound up and down....
For a second, the mute worked......then....no.
Did the same in Vista....and no matter wot I do, I cant get it working again....

That sound issue is just in regards of my remotes, I still have control manually, and with the remotes being learning remotes, I have them set to control the TV sound, rather than the PC sound...but I would rather control the PC sound....ugh.

Well, so far, shes looking good, I like it.

7100 is a step up from 7000, I have installed it on my D150 netbook and it works well even aero is fine.

I will be interested to see any speed improvements in the RTM once the debugging code is completely removed - the original Whistler beta's were slow compared to the release of XP.

Got to say I'm not a huge fan of the login screen as on an LCD it's difficult to see the white writing.

I actually think they should go back to the XP login screen (over vista and now 7) as when you are on a domain your user name is listed as DOMAIN\User while that is technically correct it's confusing for the end user who lets face it doesn't have to care which domain they are on. XP login screen lists the domain in a separate dropdown which I still prefer.

There are still a few issues for me with 7100.  Most of these were present in 7000 too:

- Zoom issue: although I have MC set to Zoom 1, it seems to default to Zoom 2 for the non widescreen Sky channels

- FM Radio issue: after time the FM radio feed starts to break up and stutter, which eventually leads to something you cannot listen to.  The radio has to be stopped and restarted to be useable again.

- Screensaver won't start for me automagically.  This is a new issue for me with 7100.

- I cannot seem to burn any TV Recordings to DVD anymore.  Again new to 7100.

On a positive note, the remote control issue seems to have disappeared.  From time to time the volume buttons on both my remote and onscreen controls in 7MC ceased working.  Closing down and relaunching 7MC seemed to fix it.  This hasn't happened to me yet in the week and a bit I've been running 7100.

freitasm: I had some problems with Freeview HD not playing at all, while on Beta 7000 it worked fine. Also on a laptop it wouldn't load the video drivers that Beta 7000 recognised fine...

What's your experience?

Check the Windows Update catalogue for drivers that used to work in Build 7000, I had a Mobility Radeon 9700 that required a Windows 7 client download from the catalogue and Device ID change in the inf file to get it installed. All options from ATI came up with not a valid windows 7 driver.

Issues I have seen so far.

1. C:\Users folder is shared with everyone having full control. Been like this since 7077.
2. Microsoft Media center keyboard and mouse not recognised. Have to install Microsoft Consumer IR device to get them to work after install.
3. iMon installed but now says hardware not attached. iMon VFD screen is telling me the time though so it has power.
4. Get 9F BSOD on setup and shutdown, have heard of other people with A8N Asus (Socket 939) boards getting the same but not 100% sure what it is. Power state failure is also listed. But Build 7000, 7048, and 7057 worked fine(no BSOD). Also Setup takes an age on this system (4-5 hours) and also has a few BSOD with every shutdown.

Otherwise fine just the same old problems...Auzentech X-meridan sound card utility takes an age to load. Default video refresh is 59mhz instead of 60mhz. Media Library keeps on corrupting....but I think this is more to do with home server and having 16K songs.

cheers

I installed the iMon software and it is working fine (See case model in sig). The only problem I had is that even though I installed the latest software it kept saying there was a newer version. Then the update app would crash. Just told it not to check for updates.

I have the Asus A8N-SLI with the premium bios (Deluxe mobo). No problem starting or shutting down. The only issue I have is that the media centre does not go to sleep. If i tell it to sleep it sleeps fine it just will not do it by itself.

Edit I am having various issues with my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and Totalmedia theatre though...

I have had that exact same expereince, no problems with the software working, but updater keeps popping up...good to know not just me.

As for shortcut keys, yeah Media Center contols not recoginsed by default, not until I installed iMon, then they worked, but I still have problems with the sound controls (although I am not sure if that is a Media Center problem, or an iMon problem)

freitasm: What I seriously don't understand is what guarantees you have that downloading something from a Torrent won't be infested with keyloggers, trojans and other malware that would be installed on your PC even before you can install an antivirus?

To update iMon, close iMon, right click on iMon icon on the desktop and use the Run as administrator option. This will start iMon with Admin privileges and allow the updater to run. Once it has finished, close iMon again and restart it. done.

I have a couple of beat bios to upgrade to if the 9F problem doesn't go away soon. Reason I don't want to use the bios updates is because they are beta, and build 7000, 7048, 7057 worked fine for me, so I am looking into drivers as the problem. MS or Asus have updated something and it isn't playing nice.

cheers
