Hi

I am using the MediaCreationtoolx64 from MS website to download the Win10 iso but it keeps saying "Something Happened" after getting to 90%?

not really an intuitive error message.

Any ideas ?

Was trying to d/l the Win Home 10, UK version (tried US as well), Both 64/32 bit version

need to figure that one out then, sounds like a hardware problem if the PC won't even turn on properly

What Windows version are you upgrading from and have you downloaded the matching Win 10 version?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I doubt it is a hardware problem considering it has been working ok up until after the Win 10 upgrade.
Also it had been working on Win 10 until I shut it down

Windows 10 made your BIOS not come up?

The BIOS starts up the computer and runs before Windows even start. If you are not getting that on the screen then it is a hardware problem.

Yep - upgrading from Win 7 Home Premium to Win Home 10.

Just like outlined here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-specifications

Was looking to just d/l the iso for now and install later.

Interestingly my laptop that had refused all the normal updates warned of having to uninstall a language pack during the ISO upgrade so wonder if that was why it didn't automatically upgrade? (Although not sure what language pack it actually was talking about :) )

nathan:
shrub: Random Question but im kinda running a non legit version of 8.1 enterprise.
I want to do a fresh install and have an unused legit 8.1 professional key. Can i just go straight to windows 10 via a USB-ISO install or do i have to go 8.1Pro then upgrade to 10?

the later

You can use the downloadable ISO at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 which has an embedded product key.

Using that ISO, run SETUP.EXE *from within Windows 8.1 so that it can detect that you have a licensed, activated OS*.  Then when it asks what you want to migrate, choose “nothing” or “data only”.

That will result in a “clean” Windows 10 OS that can successfully activate.

If you do a clean install using Windows 10 media (any media) and never went through the upgrade process, you won’t have a license and the machine won’t activate.

I used this method and Im stuck being not activated because it has used this key instead of my windows 8.1 key so it doesnt know im allowed to upgrade....

Spent 30 minutes speaking to a lady using a potato as a phone in India who keep repeating that i need to go back  to 8.1 then choose the keep my files option, whic i did anyway when i upgraded
The she reverts back to the drone line of 'you need to wait another 24 hours and windows will activate automatically'.

The worst case of script reading ive ever encountered.

the upgrade key can activate, if you have an activated 7/8.1 key beforehand and actually upgraded with internet

relax, the Store and Activation servers are just really busy and it probably can't quite process your activation yet.

There are around 3,000 people a minute upgrading to Windows 10 right now

So it's like when you go to the bank at lunch time and there is only one teller?
