Adobe Acrobat crashes whenever I try and save. Another program was playing up, so I installed the 64-bit edition of it and it works fine!!! WTF... what has this fall update done?!

I'm getting really tired of this. Have I got to install every program as 64-bit for it to work now? Never was a problem before the update...

nightmare on my 2 htpc's. Asus H97i-plus  and gigabyte H97N-wifi both with i5-4690k cpu 8GB ram and samsung 850 evssd.   Before update worked really well. after the update they both have black screen on wakeup, no cursor, no spinning circle just solid black screen but does have sound. On samsung 32inch LED TV's.  Been on intel site and downloaded their latestest graphic drivers and still no go. Have to get up and press reset switch and all fine until let it go to sleep or press power button on RC6 remote control to turn off. Then when press power button on htpc or on the remote it wakes to black screen. Before update all was great.

Updated the main PC over a week ago, maybe two / the day after it came out / whatever. Worked fine and worked fine ever since till i made the mistake of actually turning it off overnight. Now the start menu won't appear at all and Mail won't open, also can't right click on taskbar. Have seen other threads about it. Anyone know of a fix that might last, or should I just wait for an update.

Obviously I get this 1 day after I deleted windows.old

and now the lounge htpc has updated to 1709 and it is the same. Black screen on wake up. Have to manually switch off and then start again.  May finally look at mythbuntu for a reliable system if I can work out setting up dvb-t card for recording freeview

okay found that even though nothing on screen if I press control alt delete then I get the screen showing for task manager etc. Then press the esc key and all is well. Not a fix but at least a work around

OK, i've just updated 3 of my machines.

2 were ok

The third updated , but , just gets a black screen (completely black) on startup. I believe the OS is running and probably waiting on the signon screen. I've tried rebooting etc, no luck.

So,got a new drive and tried installing the OS fresh, but same problem.  FOr some reason the video driver fails on the OS startup.   I could kind of hack into it in safe mode with networking and the display works ok, but cannot get the windows setup process to accept my user details.

Hmm, The computer in my workspace was unresponsive when I powered the screens on today, had to reset button it. Appeared to be running as the SSD activity light was flickering occasionally.

Its my junky old AMD 780G system that I stuck a 1050ti into to get a displayport out which is a placeholder for playing music on till I get the space finished when I will get a real computer, so will be a fresh install (with the same 1050ti in it) - I was blaming my MST hub at the time since its normally the problem, but unplugging and replugging didnt get any output which normally does when the MST hub is being a dick.

3 computers. 1 HP Laptops and 2 custom built desktop. 1 desktop and 1 laptop upgraded fine. One desktop has serious start button non responsive and missing apps problem. Needed a rebuild at the end.

IMHO. Unless you really wanted the new feature, the update is not worth the risk. Too many problems and Dr Google will tell you more. Many people have to rebuild in order to get a usable machine. Wait a couple of months is best.

The crux of the problem is that the Microsoft eco system is too complex as MS does not control control HW environment. It is simply impossible to test every combination and permutation of HW out in the open.

Microsoft should really let the Home edition users have the option of blocking major feature upgrade. Home edition users get update forced on to you by Windows Update.

All the woes I had with the update seem to have resolved themselves, without much input from me. Not sure what happened, but glad it is all sorted now. :)

Mines working ok.  Not absolutely fantastic but ok.  Issues Im having is displayfusion tends to just randomly start using 25% of the cpu until you either force quit it or reboot.  Malwarebytes had to be uninstalled and reinstalled. Zoolz had to be reinstalled as it wasnt starting up on boot, hopefully thats fixed now. Past that everything else is ok.  System seems to take a little longer to start up though.

Also seems to have improved for me, have Start menu back and can right click on task bar, this was (coincidentally ?) after it updated some Adobe Flash thing and failed with two other updates.

I have an IQ-816 (HP) desktop which is an all-in-one touchscreen unit. I installed W10 when it first became available to me and had no end of problems with it. The worst being random system freezing which required a hard reset to fix. Once you done that 3 times in a twenty minute period the frustration mounts. Anyway it also started constantly failing to install updates about 4 months ago so has been unused since then.

A couple of days ago I used the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB with v1709 and did a clean install. The install went without a hitch and the desktop has been responsive and fast with no system freezes (so far) which makes me a very happy camper.

Since the upgrade OneDrive for Business will start (as expected) and open the Explorer on its folder (not expected or desired).

Perplexed why you're still using OneDrive for Business? I thought that was a dead duck and everything migrated over to OneDrive (which works a million times better).   Cloud files on demand works really well. SharePoint syncing without sync errors every x weeks requiring you to resync everything, no more double syncing (if you sync 500 mb, you actually use 1000mb on your computer).
