If one of your customers get owned from a unpatched security concern after end of Windows 10 support, will you be willing to say you did all you could to protect your customers and their customers data? Why put that type of liability on yourself.

Yes, if it means my customers are happier overall.

Plus there's more chance of bugs appearing in W11 than there is of security issues appearing in W10.

Honestly hardly any of my clients run W11. Maybe....idk 3 or 4 out of over 100?

Your customers are only happier from the viewpoint that ignorance is bliss.

Microsoft's marketing relations department is doing an excellent job with all the scary "Windows 10 Is Doomed" articles appearing daily ;  )

The actual Windows 10 end of support date is 14 October 2025. Most W10 users will not be overly concerned until then.

After that - Microsoft are talking about providing W10 extended security updates for USD$30 - see "What is the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates programme?". Microsoft says that option will be available in November 2025.

When to use Windows 10 Extended Security Updates after October 2025. Here's the fine print..

"Note: The price will double every consecutive year, for a maximum of three years. If you decide to jump into the program in Year Two, you'll have to pay for Year One too, as ESUs are cumulative."

(special pricing will be available to non-profit orgs)

Correct, the customers are ignorant, so luckily for them I'm not.   And lucky for them Noel Leeming’s didn't supply an OEM laptop with W11 installed.

W11 is a pile of garbage I wouldn't want my clients using on a daily basis,  W10 is far more mature, wrinkle free, familiar and doesn't ram MS apps down the users throat.

Take the default start menu configuration with all MS apps pinned?

I've yet to see any problematic security issues...  and if security updates are the only reason for upgrading to 11 over 10, it  doesn't say much for W11.

I'd rather see clients happily working away on their W10 machine than force an upgrade to W11 and see them miserable.

They question we ask ourselves these days is:

If this client experienced a cybersecurity incident that involved their insurance company and led to questions about their security posture, would our position be easily defensible?
