Try get an HP Envy X2 as well, I have one, very impressed by it, although it has some software issues that crop up time to time, but hopefully will be patched out.

Sweet.  Can you please talk to your contact at HP and give some details on the Active Stylus that was supposed to be available at the launch of this product.  It was/is Amtel brand.  There have been rumors that this product is no longer entering production, or that there will be a replacement product down the line.  This is different to the cheap capacitive rubber tipped stylus' you can use on any capacitive screen.

onebytemike: I'm assuming there's no difference in accessories for the RT and the PRO? I'm about to get an RT and will be getting a PRO also and want to use the same keyboards, power, etc.

I don't suppose anyone's heard rumours on when the PRO will available through Harvey Norman or JBHiFi?

Bit late to this party but power supplies for the Pro and RT are different. 24W v 48W. They're not interchangeable. Keyboards are though.

They are interchangeable

Pluging rt into pro and vice versa won't blow anything up

When the pro is running under heavy load the rt power supply can't keep up

I've never seen that happen myself after 2 months use

We've tried charging a Pro on the RT PSU and it wouldn't actually charge without the unit being turned off. Even then, it was too slow to be of any use.

Microsoft specifically say they're not interchangeable on their website.

Hrmph...  Seems the Pro and RT have different video adapters as well.  Knew I shouldn't have shelled out for one before ordering from Harvey Norman :(

On that, anyone know if the mini-Displayport to VGA cables for a mac will work with a Surface pro?

I'm surprised they even have Pro accessories when Pro is not available yet.

yes a normal displayport adapter will work,,its a standard. the Surface case is at an angle, so it won't sit flush against the Surface casing

there is no issue. I've been happily charging my RT from a Pro adapter and charging Pro from a RT Adapter for months

No, I made the mistake ordering an RT VGA adapter thinking they'd be the same.

With any luck, Harvey Norman will let me swap them for something I can use!

According to the Surface blog today, Surface Pro will be available in New Zealand before end of May.

I wonder if it will be good enough I could replace my laptop with it. It was great replacing the desktop with the ultrabook. The Surface RT is a great machine for light use, but want something for work.

I've got an HP desktop - i5, 4GB RAM and a Surface Pro.  So far, the Surface seems to be faster.  Suspect it comes down to IO as the desktop doesn't have an SSD.

I'll run some proper benchmarks when I get everything setup on the Pro but the plan is to definitely replace laptop and desktop with the Surface.

I was seriously considering the pro but looking at the prices PBTech are offering for preorder I think they're going to be grossly overpriced. Might be worth waiting for prices to drop and bugs to be worked out.
