Yes its now grandfathered legacy software. But this is the only way Spark have given us to access our server.
I'd tried to raise the fact it was out of date with them, but their rep didn't believe me, saying that they still use it.

I see they are following the Chinese and how they still run on Windows XP.

Ok, had a look into it, seems the update lost all the vlans and it was trying to go untagged into the switch port that was set up tagged.

Stupid windows shouldnt be playing with stuff like that.

Nothing surprises me about businesses these days; lamenting the cost of upgrading their software and hardware but happy to pay for a private jet or some other extravagant item. Heck, the organisation I'm with the exchange server is at least 3 months behind the curb when it comes to installing patches - surprised it hasn't had the crap hacked out of it yet.

Reminds me of last week, "we're taking down the server for maintenance", few hours later - what on earth did they do for 2 hours? I look at the Exchange version, nope, certainly wasn't a patch. I mean, holy heck, I'm lazy but geeze the IT guys where I work seem to turn it into an art form. At this stage they're probably better off just pushing it into the cloud and let Microsoft take care of the details.

Daily updates not installing...I am running OS 10586.3 Version 1511. Updated on Nov 15 - Daily updates - definitions for defender download once or twice a day. On screen they show installing and then before installation completes any reference disappears off screen. New files appear in C:Windows/Software Distribution/Download, but will not install. Machine has been rebooted and I read somewhere that problems in installation can be solved by deleting the Downloads folder and starting afresh. Have done this but the last update showing is a security update for IE Explorer Flash Player KB3103688. Has anyone experienced this and how did you solve it?

Well, installed the Cumulative Update released after the 1511 Update.

I have to say, except for the really annoying thing of changing the @#$#% video driver to something older than the one I had manually installed, Windows 10 is now performing even better than Windows 8 was, in terms of speed. Programs seem to launch faster than before and overall things seem to have settled down.

I don't use ANY of the modern apps, so wouldn't know about them.

Try O&O Shut Up 10 one of the bits you can turn off and yes really turn it off is driver updates from Microsoft

Installed Windows 10 1511 on top of Windows 7 (via USB) on a five year old Dell N5010... No problems at all.

I had to add a directory to my PATH environment variable today, and got a pleasant surprise. The new UI for editing the PATH is a massive improvement over the old one. I'm rather happy with this change.

There have been some minor niggles with the update. Nothing major, but annoying all the same. For example, I had just got the command prompt appearance set up how I wanted it, and the update reset it back to the default :(

This is because it's an upgrade not an update
