Woke up Saturday morning to a system that was trying to schedule an update.

Turned on my backup drive, took a system snapshot and then let it update - expecting it to take a few hours.
Came back 20 minutes later and it was done

No issues so far

The video on the SaaS path might be a sales pitch for all I know, but it does appear from 1709 on those 300mb-1gb patches each month are set to reduce another 20% in compression and start inspecting and only downloading/deploying what's missing which I guess is a bonus for corporate infrastructure where mobile devices are rife.

After Windows update runs 1709, failing and rolling back about 5 times, I'm trying to disable Windows update so it's not forced on me again for a while, getting tired of the time wasted. Problem is Windows Update keeps re-enabling itself and trying to get me to update. How do you disable update so it doesn't re-enable??

You cant.
MS is closing off all previous 'hacks' for disabling Winupdates

Try this instead
