Win10 is turning out to be the gift that keeps on taking.

Upgraded to 1115
Lost ability to access network drives, and had an application summarily uninstalled
Lost an hour of my life to Microsoft Support
Had to roll back from upgrade 1115 back to build 10240
Lost Adobe Reader in the process
Lost more of my life getting Adobe Reader working again

Now I've noticed that pdf files are no longer previewable in Explorer

Expecting to give up more of my life later today trying to sort that out.

Well, to be fair, Win10 was doing just fine until that upgrade.
But I'm concerned there may be more damage I have not noticed yet.

Upgraded my teenage daughters HP Netbook over the weekend from 8.1 to 10 Fall Update; found out she had run out of space on her 128GB SSD and the Antivirus wasn't operational :) anyway after restoring 17GB of space installing over 100 windows updates she wasn't infected with a virus or malware which was a stroke of luck, I installed from a USB stick the Windows 10 Fall Update as an upgrade and it when through really well, everything works we will not be returning to Windows 8 so I cleaned up the Previous Windows version data and she now has 25GB free.

I'm not sure if Win10 is smaller of if there was additional rubbish in the Windows 8 install that was removed, anyway a great result and she has a working machine again for her birthday present of a 1TB WD Anniversary 2.5 external drive.  Her school has moved to BYOD, bit of luck this will suffice as they are suggesting Microsoft Surfaces.

MS is not enhancing confidence in the update/upgrade process at present. If they are wanting to push auto updates etc they need to raise their game.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

And they've just pulled the ability to create a usb boot drive for the November update so those hoping to do a clean install are now out of luck. I feel for Microsoft and what they want to do but the problems relating to things breaking is a byproduct of their system - when you layer crap upon more crap then unfortunately the instability of Windows is going to be the inevitable end result. Maybe this is time for Microsoft to clean house and start with a new base; FreeBSD core and build up from there.

I don't know what is happening in Redmond but things appear to be a muddle that's for sure. Win 10 and its updates seem to be circling the drain and Win 10 Mobile seems to be already in the drain. Maybe is a symptom of too much talent lost
to job cuts.

LAN systems not appearing in File Explorer - Windows 10 1511 & Synology DSM 5.2-5644 Update 1

We have a Synology NAS running DSM 5.2-5644 Update 1. This NAS is set to be [the] “Local Master Browser” for our (Workgroup) LAN. After upgrading some of our PCs to 10586.11 I noticed our systems were no longer all appearing under File Explorer “Network”. It seems that there are SMB3.1.1-related incompatibilities between 10586.11 and 5.2-5644 Update 1. Details and a temporary workaround(s) are reported by Etz. I chose the option of enabling only SMB1 in DSM; now the systems do again appear in “Network”.

O' Windows 10 let me count the ways I hate thee.

Now I am not sure if this is a bi-product of the update but for no apparent reason and defying all attempts to remedy Notifications have decided to stop, go on vacation, strike, go AWOL.

And it is not just NAS not showing. Pretty much all my previously well behaved shares are MIA, now. Damned annoying as everything was fine before.

Net view gives the error 1231. Same with you?

Didn't try net view - at first I was pursuing (red herring) Master Browser issues (nbtstat ...), but I have read that error has occurred for others.

Every Windows 10 in-place upgrade does this by default so you have 30 days to rollback to previous OS. You can delete it or disk cleanup wizard or Windows will automatically delete
