I like how @nathan doesn't acknowledge my reports of machine freezing and disk checks... It's almost like I have complained too much about Windows 8 back when and lost my cred... But that's ok, we all know everyone was right about Windows 8 being a dog. Windows 10 mostly works, except for the things people talk about.

Microsoft employees drink the mandatory kool-aid thus ignore any such things

Fair point. I counter with the principle thing I wanted.. Bearing in mind this is called "Creators Update"

I wanted a very simple alternative to the GoPro editor like Windows Movie Maker. WMM was removed from from Windows and there's no replacement. Seems quite odd to not have even a basic video editor but to include a 3d version of Paint :-)

(Unless I have missed the WMM replacement - in which case SORRY!)

I have also since found other suitable software, but it's way overkill for what I wanted and much harder to use than WMM was :-(

Cheers -N

and those sort of uncalled for, illogical insults say way more about you than any MSFT employee that chooses to help out here in their own personal time.

It's not the 90s, we're not in NNTP newsgroups and Microsoft is hardly M$ these days.

Who is your employer, can I insult them and call them names too please?

we're working on some new apps that I can't quite talk about yet :)

Meanwhile WMM should still install and work, as far as I know.

Creator updated yesterday and to be honest it was a bit confusing re the name. The first I'd heard of it was a popup telling me to select my "Privacy Settings". I thought it was some type of phishing scam that was trying to get me to let them in.

Creator to me sounded something like "Developer" and since I'm neither I didn't know it was just a windows update.

Had to use the go to search engine to discover what it was.

Having said that, I've had no issues after the update as some of you have.

Ignorance is bliss :-)

I updated and it worked ok at first, but after reboot it got stuck in a bootloop and I had to do a fresh install of Win 10 from USB stick.

I want to know why settings were changed, such as what happens when I close the lid to my laptop, power options, as well as the default program to open .mp3's and .mp4's. Is there a list somewhere of everything it changes so I can check that they are still set to my liking? It kind of pisses you off after a while. LEAVE MY SETTINGS ALONE!!

its under Window settings and then click on the apps icon, then default apps then scroll down and you should see 3 highlighted choose default apps . choose which one matters to you and change them to what you want.

I'm glad this works for you, it doesn't work for a lot of us.

On my PC's, Edge is still stealing the pdf association from it's rightful owner (Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat).
I've given up trying to stop notepad grabbing the txt association from Notepad++ or Sublime Text.

Must have changed these settings dozens of times in Windows 10 using the recommended method with no permanent result.

That's all very well. What I object to is to having to do it in the first place. I also want to know all other changes made to my settings (I've already fixed the power options), but I am not looking through every setting and changing it back (if it has changed) because the update changed it. Is there ONE place where I can find what other changes were made (and no, I don't mean Settings then checking each option)?

After the update the onedrive app wouldn't sign into my microsoft account:

Microsoft OneDrive

You're syncing a different account

The account that you signed in with doesnt match the account that you're syncing.

Please provide the password for "".

To add another account, right-click the blue OneDrive cloud icon in the notification

area and click Settings. Click the Account tab, then click Add an account.

(copy-pasted from elsewhere)

... and after uninstalling + reinstalling the app, the OneDrive folder in Explorer no longer links to my account, rather is local only in ~\OneDrive

Used my computer all yesterday working on taxes- excel, Firefox, onenote, calculator, win 10 email and day before doing a bit of Python programming with pycharm. Haven't had any hiccups. Surface pro 4.
