I am really in a pickle here, and I am about to die...

I downloaded this exe install software and it needed a default program to start.
So I decided to set it to Divx player and clicked ok and now EVERYTHING opens up as Divx player!!!!!!!
I do not know what to do, and I am afraid of turning my computer off, maybe I won't be able to get into any browsers because they will just open up as Divx's.... :(
I am running a virus scan now on Avast, waiting for the results.
Here is a screenshot of my desktop and the mess I have made.. http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/2232/divxdesktop.jpg
PLEASE HELP and respond! Thank you very much.

Okay I'll give it a go, hopefully it won't open up as Divx.

It seems odd that you would need to select a default for a exe file. What file did you download?

Ohhh yes, thank you so much!!! It worked!!!!! I used the copy and paste for the regristry in notepad, using this

_______________________

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWithList]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWithProgids]
"exefile"=hex(0):

__________

And saved it as an Exe.reg and excecuted it and restarted my computer, AND IT'S BACK TO NORMAL!
I can now open up application normally, like Skype and stuff :) your help is much appreciated.

I guess this is the risk you take when you pirate software, instead of paying for it.
