This may have been covered somewhere and I'm sorry if I missed it but this is bugging me a bit.

My understanding with Windows 8 is that Media Center will not come as standard and you will have to pay for it as an add-on if you want it.

That is all well and good as far as it goes except I use Media Center a lot to stream from my PC to my xbox.

For me this an easy and useful solution to play video files form my PC or external HDDs without having to copy things to FAT32 formatted drives or buy a media player.

However, my PC is due for an upgrade in the next little bit and if I get one after the Win8 release will this mean I can't stream from PC to xbox unless I buy the Media Centre upgrade?

Thanks.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

There are several programs that do a far superior job at streaming content to the xbox than media centre. Check out tverstiy which has the added bonus of being free.

You don't have to WMC to stream content from PC to Xbox unless it's freeview. I use the video player app in the Xbox 360 which streams via WMP12 on my Windows 7 machine.

Also Xbox smartglass will work great with Windows 8.

Do whatever you want to do man.
