I bought a Data Vault x510 a few years ago with a 1TB drive in it, recently I added in an additional 2TB into the storage pool.
Over the weekend I couldn't connect to it from the Xbox so gave it a reboot, now I have issues
Now when it starts up I get solid aqua lights for the first two and flashing blue for the Health LED.
I can't ping the server from any other device on my home network even though the network card on the Data Vault is flashing as if there's activity.
I have tried:
- replacing the network cable (read this suggestion on another forum)
- removing and reseating the factory disk and second disk I added. After do this I could hear it booting normally but still no luck.
- following the instructions for a system recovery which came back with a strange error that wasn't documented anywhere.
I got one of those USB/SATA adapters, plugged in the second drive (2TB) into my PC and it came up asking to be formatted, plugged the first drive (1TB, System and Data) into my PC and I could see all my data, even data added over the weekend, I tried to copy important data onto an external 2TB drive and it wouldn't copy at all, (haven't got the error message but it was more of an error code than error message).
I only got a short amount of time on it last night so will have another go tonight.
Any other ideas? Of course this is all our family data (photos, home videos etc) so I am treating this cautiously that I don't lose any data.
