Hi guys - I know this topic has been done to death, but for the life of my I cannot resolve this problem.

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=45&TopicId=8236

This thread discusses the problem with the ATI Radeon 9200 on Vista with the horrible scan lines that make Vista basically useless. The solution involves booting up and connecting via RDP from another machine and loading the latest XP drivers from the HP website. I've tried this however each time I manually update the drivers, Vista complains that the "best drivers for my hardware" are already installed and refuses to install the XP ones.

Maybe there is something to do with the way I'm updating the drivers, or the drivers themselves. Could someone please confirm exactly what drivers they used to resolve this problem?

This is the page I downloaded the drivers from, although there are three different downloads available (its not clear which ones to use - so I have tried them all)

hp support page [moderator edit]

So if someone could let me know how they managed to force Vista to update the drivers that would be fantastic.

Many thanks in advance

Nick

The Radeon 9200 is not supported by ATI for Windows Vista. There will be no drivers for it.

The oldest cards supported are the Mobility Radeon 9600 and Radeon 9500.

So theres no solution for your problem. Sorry.

Well looks like I found the workaround for Vista refusing to install the XP 9200 drivers. Solution outlined here in case anyone else needs it (specifically check out the third comment down):
