I've just upgraded to iTunes 11 on 64 bit Windows 7.

When I play a movie in .mpg format it plays a fraction of a second of audio and then iTunes crashes. The same movies will play perfectly in Quicktime. This confuses me as I thought iTunes just used QuickTime anyway. Other movies however in .MP4 format play fine.

Does anyone else see this problem, or have any ideas how to fix it?

Cheers,
Pete.

iTunes 11 appears to be a bucket load of crap at the moment.

Can't say I've noticed anything similar to your issue so far, but then again, I usually use VLC to play most stuff.

Have you tried changing the file extension to .avi?

Download and install MediaInfo Lite and check the actual encoding.

Have you installed the 11.01 upgrade yet? Fix for several issues.

iTunes 11 is a bucket of crap. 11.01 upgrade did nothing as far as I can see. Hope they fix it soon.

Grab VLC player...plays just about everything.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I have upgraded to 11.0.1 and it's made no difference.

I do have VLC and other video apps so I am able to play the files. Was really just curious about why this is happening. Perhaps "iTunes 11 is crap"is a sufficient answer :).

Anyway I've just signed up for a free month of Spotify Premium, so maybe I won't be using iTunes that much from now on.

Cheer,
Pete.

Maybe try a reinstall of QuickTime.
