Since Vista is coming out in on January 30th, will people be able to go to a store and buy a new PC with Vista as OS? if not, when will that happen?

I have spoken to several stores over the past week about Vista, most places will have Vista on the shelves on the 30th and pre-installed on systems as well.

Thats the word from Harvey Norman, Bond and Bond, Dick Smith and Noel Leeming.

And if they dont most manufacters offer a tech gaurantee. So if you buy a system within a certain time frame and it comes with XP you can pay a small amount of money to upgrade.

Acer 26/10/06 to 15/03/07

Or if you buy office or XP off the shelf its 26/10/06 to 28/02/07

Most hardware manufacturers will be doing the same ie Acer, Asus, HP, compaq etc

Rather you than me. [Hyperlink removed]
Still, it's going to happen, whether users object to this or not.
Be warned.

This actually has nothing to do with current topic. If you wish to discuss Vistas content protection then please start a new thread.

No worries, just with a topic that contentious then theres a good chance it will attract the MSFT zealots lead by me.

BOOOOOOK buk buk buk buk buk. Oh wait wrong thread.

Yeah its a point - companies will be rolling out Windows Vista - but obviusly it will run slower on their existing computers. Does anyone know of companies forking out for PC upgrades for Vista?

Cos it kinda seems like a ticket to slow your PC down...and on a mass scale like an enterprise.
