Hello! I can't install updates on Windows 8.
I am in Lausanne, Switzerland. My time zone is set to (UTC+01:00) Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna. I run the Windows Update troubleshooter, but it was not helpful. Then I run the DISM tool, which gave the error 14098, the component store has been corrupted. How can I manage this issue?

I had a similar issue with my windows 8 laptop but a different error code. I tried installing updates but they would keep failing with different codes. I fixed it by restoring my system back to 17/4/13 which was prior to the last critical update on my list of successful updates. Once the restore had finished I ran windows update and the 21 updates which were on the 'important update' updated fine.

I thought that was the DISM error #, is that the same as the Windows Update error?

you'll probably need to look into the error which should be logged in %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log

I also recently had issues updating Windows 8, I had to stop the crypto service then rename c:\windows\system32\catroot2 to catroot3 which forces Windows to restore it then my Windows update worked

I was getting Error Code 8E5E03FA

Error 0x80070003 occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls.
