Hey,

Hows everyone for a monday?.

Im just in need of some help todo with the new Vista Media centre.
just installed it the otherday and are having issues with the "videos" folder, i have loaded a folder into that with over 100 videos/clips in it.

does anyone know if there is anyway what so ever to disable the thumbnails of them? Its almost impossible to know what each clip is untill you load itup to see lol.

it takes a radmon frame from each clip and sets it as a thumbnail, so some of those are black etc.

Im trying to find away to have just the file names.

If anyone knows anything at all it would be of great help. Ive tried searching but have had no luck.

Thank you.

Hi

Just found your post. I'm not sure of a way to disable this. But you can stop it while its in action by clicking the stop button (red X) at end of address bar in explorer. That will allow you to navigate the folder and it thumbnail in the background without being a pain. It will only do this once so you may as well just let it do it. Although if you run disk cleanup and clear the thumbnails then it will have to do it again.

i think he means within media center itself, not in explorer.

I have a feeling you can view as a list.  try pressing the i button while you are in the videos folder and see if there is an option to change your view.  from memory there is view large, view small, and possibly view list.  if not, i think i remember seeing an option to view file info as well as thumbnail, that is - to view the file name under the thumbnail.  i could be mistaken though.
