Just wondering if anyone has a useful guide on updating from Windows 8.1 preview on surface pro to 8.1 full.

I already have it installed on my desktop (which was running 8.0) from the windows store, but the surface pro is not seeing the update (all the KBs are installed).

Also, I generally prefer to do a fresh install, so is there somewhere I can get hold of the media or get a CD shipped from Microsoft.

You should be able to refresh your PC, doing so will take it back to Win 8 (well it did for my Envy X2), from there you should be able to upgrade fine.

When you installed the 8.1 preview I am guessing you missed the warning "You will not be able to update to 8.1 release from this preview".

There is no consumer 8.1 media available yet - only volume licensing customers have access to it.

Reinstall 8.0, upgrade.

Ok, next question, what is the easiest way to restore to 8. It should still be on the appropriate partition.

I have tried using this tip from klathman and it is now working.

ms-windows-store:WindowsUpgrade

I think if you put this into the metro IE that it will take you to the upgrade item in the store.

When I clicked download the screen returned to the windows store, but in the top right corner it said downloading windows. Clicking on that brings up the progress screen.
